Thrills [Motivation]
Every day of his life, Steven has lived an extremely ordinary, extremely boring life, even as he watched his friends do amazing things day in and day out. Now, after whatever dark pact he made, Steven has powers, and the chance to do something with them. While he wants to be a hero, Steven is far more excited by the chance to simply break the monotony.

Public Identity [Identity]
Steven needs to have unobstructed line of sight for some of his powers, which makes a mask difficult. As such, his identity is known, along with all the problems that can bring.

Blind [Disability]
While Steven's powers more than compensate, without whatever magical force is powering his new eyes, Steven is completely blind and, aside from his medical knowledge, has very few skills he can actually utilize.

Dark Deal [Power Source]
Steven has no idea who (or what) gave him his powers, and has done his best to not ask questions. After all, he can do good! What does it matter if something else is borrowing his vision? His life is interesting for the first time in ages, and he's not disabled anymore! Surely the good he's doing balances out whatever else is happening, right?

Jealousy [Obsession]
Deep down, Steven is extremely jealous of his friends and their superpowers. After all, they were born that way, or got them without any real accidents. Him? He had to literally go blind to get the chance, and even now he can barely keep up with the more experienced of his friends. It's not really fair, is it?

Power Points

Abilities 8 + Powers 95 + Advantages 3 + Skills 12 + Defenses 32 = 150

Steven is a generally attractive man, except for the scars across his head from his attempted suicide. He has dark brown hair, pale skin, and two eyes that burn like fire whenever people get a good look at them. They're rather unsettling, truth be told, and very few people are able to look Steven in the eye for an extended period of time.

As a superhero, Steven is unfortunately unable to wear a suit due to the nature of his powers. With two of his more powerful capabilities requiring direct line of sight, any sort of helmet to hide his identity is just not plausible. Rather than trying to do something, Steven settles for just wearing a long trench coat, trying to make himself look like some modern-day magician than anything else. It works somewhat, although he still hasn't quite managed to perfect the look.

Character Notes

Steven grew up in the thrilling, ever-changing suburbia of Redwood Bay. Or, at least, that's always how the boy would sarcastically describe his life. As the son of an optometrist that spent all his days working, Steven didn't really lack anything material in his life, except for excitement. He played sports, got good grades, but was entirely, completely bored in his life.

At least, until he moved a little closer to the city, and met his friends. Exciting, interest people, who could make a boring day into something incredible. Friends that could take even somebody as dull as Steven, and make them interesting. Some were older, some were younger, but spending his days with those few friends are some of the fondest memories that Steven has.

Of course, all good things must come to an end, and for Steven that coincided with graduation. He went far away, attending the same stuffy prestigious school as his father, while his various friends went there own ways with their lives. Steven had the exciting role of studying medicine as an undergraduate, then a graduate, and then as a doctor. He would become an optometrist, study how eyes worked, and then take over his father's company. Safe, secure, and boring, beyond belief. Just like everything else in Steven's life.

And so, Steven graduated. He started working in his father's practice, trying to learn the ropes. He did his best to keep up with his old friends, but life was hectic. He was too busy to see them, and they seemed to be constantly appearing and disappearing anyways, as if they always had better things to be doing. And so, Steven continued with his dull, monotonous life, passing each day with little care.

That is, until Steven's dull, monotonous life began to catch up with him, and he just wanted it to end. He saw his friends on the news, doing amazing things with amazing powers, and here he was. Comforting a five year old that didn't want to take an eye exam. When Steven drove his car into a wall, he expected things to just end but, in a cruel twist of irony, he lived. In fact, he was almost perfectly fine, except for his sight. Just enough damage to his occipital lobe to blind him, in a cruel twist of irony.

In a moment Steven's life went from a dull but safe one to a dull one where he quite literally had no future. All of his studies were useless if he couldn't see, and all of his hard work was truly for nothing now. Hell, he couldn't even finish this himself without somebody else's help; he could barely leave a room, much less try to put this right. Even his own father began to ignore him afterwards, putting some distance between Steven and himself.

Steven had all but resigned himself to his fate, when he heard a small voice at the back of his mind.

Do you wish to see?

For awhile, Steven just ignored it. After all, he'd just attempted suicide, and likely wasn't in the soundest mental state. It was probably just his imagination but, after some time, Steven replied.

"What do you want?"

I want to see as well. Perhaps we could help one an other.

"What do you mean? Can you give me my eyes back?"

Oh, I can do far more than that Steven. Far, far more.

Steven paused for a moment, looking at his arm. Every hair on it was standing straight up, and he could feel a sense of dread rolling over him ever time he heard that voice. Still, he needed his eyes, but how good of an idea would it be to make a deal with something that's very voice unnerved him…

I can make you just like your friends. You can run with them once again

"Deal," Steven said without hesitation, voice barely audible, before he screamed. His eyes burned like fire, threatening to tear a hole in his skull until, after what felt like an eternity, his eyes opened once again, and Steven's life began anew.
