Larcle, #519A, The Rocky Worm
Typing: Bug / Ground
Height: 2" (Ground to top of body)
Weight: 8.7 lbs.
Length: 1'7" (head to tail)
Width: 2"
Egg Group: Bug
Diet: Larcle commonly eat roots that they burrow for as well as leaves, although all plant-life is acceptable to them.
Characteristics: Larcle are a small, yellow worm. Their hide is coated in small rocks that, while not as strong as the powerful shell a Shuckle possesses, still provides the small Pokemon with a powerful defense. As it nears evolution Larcle become more and more covered by this red stone until it creates the thick shell of a Shuckle. Their eyes are almost too small to see and they are not possessed of the best eyesight. Larcle possess few significant traits other than their powerful defense. In a rare case, they are actually much quicker than their older form as well as more capable in a battle. While they still aren't hitting hard, their hide helps protect against counter attacks. Larcle also have a limited digging ability, allowing them to dig under the earth to protect themselves. They are also skilled in seeking out berries; while they can't produce the powerful Berry Juice their older form can, they are still able to search out Berries like none other. Contrary to popular belief, a Larcle is not slimy; in fact, it is quite the opposite. The rocks absorb large amounts of moisture to keep from flaking off, rendering a Larcle's skin quite dry.
Behavior: Larcle are an extremely shy Pokemon. In the wilds they often launch themselves underground before they can be seen. They aren't a highly social 'mon either; they are solitary at best. Despite this, they have been known to follow Grass Pokemon around, devouring any Berries that they leave in their stead. As a trained Pokemon, they take a bit of urging to battle. They are naturally runners and a straight battle is far from ideal for them. Their loyalty is quite easy to achieve; being natural pigs, providing a Larcle with food, especially Berries, will quickly earns it allegiance. Larcle also are quite sociable if you can get them over their initial shyness, actually becoming quite the flirt with other Pokemon whether they could breed with them or not. Their dry skin makes them a fan of moisture as well; a cool shower goes miles for pleasing one of these Pokemon.
Habitat: Larcle most commonly live in caves deep underground, especially ones with porous walls. They slide in and out, making their homes in the stone. They sometimes live in forests as well, making their homes in rotten logs.
Population: Larcle are quite common in their respective habitats, although their flighty nature makes them hard to find. They are rarely seen in a group larger than two or three.
Relation with other Pokemon: Larcle are mostly solitary, although it is not uncommon for them to follow powerful Grass Type Pokemon and eat the growths they leave behind.
In the World: Larcle are not prized as a starter. Their weak combat abilities, despite their impressive defenses, make them far from the best starter. That being said, they are prized by Botanists for their impressive skills in finding Berries.
Lifespan: 8 years without evolution.
Egg: A Larcle egg is small; it is a perfect circle with a radius of about three inches. It is coated in the thick red stone of a Shuckle's shell, protecting it from harm.
Breeding: A Larcle is able to breed when it ages significantly; around Level 20 a Larcle can begin to breed. The conditions for one are simple; get another Bug and let it go.
