Nate is, to put it kindly, a scumbag. A natural-born leader, charismatic as hell and not exactly an idiot, Nate could have easily done damn near anything he wanted. Top-tier colleges, fame, fortune, it all could have been his.

Of course, there was one other teeny-tiny point about Nate that wasn't mentioned. Nate had very, very few morals. And, well, money can come in much greater measures if you don't worry about silly things like that. In high school, Nate was the school's dealer for all sorts of drugs, using his charisma and cleverness to quickly take over what network existed. The boy's Eevee, Elliot, made an excellent enforcer for when things didn't go his way which, oddly enough, usually only happened once.

After high school Nate continued his trade but, as things would go, other groups in his home city of Saffron began to edge him out and, soon enough, Nate's crew was almost entirely absorbed by a crew bristling with Psychics. Only Nate's long-time bodyguard and enforcer and a strange tinkerer came with him, the three making their way to Celadon City to begin anew. They might start at the bottom but they weren't going to stay there for long. Nate had big plans.
