Porybit, #099A, The Unfinished Program
Typing: Normal
Height: 5"
Weight: 27.2 lbs.
Length: 11"
Width: 6" (outside of leg to outside of leg)
Egg Group: Mineral
Diet: Porybit do not need to eat.
Characteristics: Porybit are the failures of the Porygon process. As the scientists put the code into the crystalline structure, more often than not some sort of error occurs, making the process an expensive failure. Often only the core of the Pokemon makes it; the part that becomes a Porybit. It is literally only the core of a Porygon's brain. Small eyes dot the head, the only defining feature. Small crystaline shards serve as legs. Despite being so young, they still do possess a miniscule amount of flight. While they aren't a minescule Pokemon, they have many strange quirks. They're body is unstably held together. More often than not they seem to be falling apart, they're small legs held together by a faint shimmer in the air. They have a small tail as well, mostly used for balance. Occasionaly small sparks cross the surface of the Pokemon, signifying its unstable nature. Porybit's most powerful capability is it's ability to change its hide. Even this early in life a Porybit can change the texture and color of its projected hide, although it often remains its trademark red.
Behavior: Porybit have erratic behavior. Due to their incomplete coding, they are a very awkward Pokemon, to say the least. In the wild they will often avoid Pokemon and humans altogether, although as they age they become more and more sociable. As a Trainer's Pokemon they are loyal to a fault, obeying every command, although they follow a command to what was literally said, not the intent, something many a new trainer has learned. Porybit have been known to malfunction, going into a random fit of some simulated emotion; anger, rage, happiness; anything. If left in one of these fits too long a Porybit will begin to absorb that personality.
Habitat: Porybit are failures of science; their natural habitat is the laboratory. They are extremely rare in the wilds, mostly due to how difficult their breeding is.
Population: As a man-made Pokemon, Porybit are as common as the demand for them.
Relation with other Pokemon: Porybit are almost solitary, although they will cluster in groups of their own kind.
In the World: Porybit are commonly sold for cheap by manufacturers; they were made to create a Porygon, not this mistake. Due to this, many new trainers, especially in high technology areas, end up starting with a Porybit.
Lifespan: Porybit require maintenance every 6 months or run the risk of degrading. With proper maintenance they are almost immortal.
Egg: A Porybit Egg is simply an orb of red crystal. They are rare and match the same size as a Porybit. Instead of hatching, the Egg instead slowly writes the code and builds the frame until the Egg actually just comes to life.
Breeding: Porybit are only able to breed with other Porygon, mostly due to how they have no gender. They remove some of their own crystaline frame, forming the egg that will grow this new Porybit. A Porybit doesn't have enough spare frame until Level 20 to do this.
