Skondor

Skondor, #544A, The Scar Pokemon
Typing: Normal / Flying
Height: 2'3" (Standing)
Weight: 28.2 lbs.
Length: 2'7" (Head to tail)
Width: 1'6" (Chest) 8'8" (Wingspan)
Egg Group: Flying
Diet: Skondor prey on many creatures, specifically small mammals that their beaks can quickly attack, although their tough beaks make it easy for them to prey on bugs as well.
Characteristics: Skondor are actually quite different from their older kin. They have feathers all over their body of a ruddy red hue. Unlike many birds, these feathers do not regrow when shed. While tough, the only thing that can actually dislodge these feathers is a direct attack. As the feathers fall, the skin underneath is cut. The resulting healing results in a metallic scar that is extremely tough. As time goes on Skondor acquire more and more of these, whether through the jagged rocks of their home or the thick thorn bushes that are also native to the area. The same holds true with other parts of their body; as their beak and talons get damaged they repair themselves even stronger. Some Skondor become so scarred that they are mistaken for a miniature Skarmory, although the difference is easy to tell. The armor of a Skarmory is smooth while a Skondor's is often covered in deep cuts and ridges. Skondor are also incredibly tough; their endurance is unparalleled out of the other young Pokemon and they can go for days without food or water.
Behavior: The physical characteristics of a Skondor influence its behavior. The way in which they become stronger through every injury leads them to be risk takers, even to the point of nearly killing themselves only to come back even stronger. They aren't suicidal; they simply do not care of the risks of a situation. This is a boon for a trainer; a Skondor will never back down from a fight, no matter the odds. They are a tough Pokemon to train though; they are a naturally solitary Pokemon and as such resent taking orders. Still, like many other Pokemon, if a trainer is able to establish themselves as the Alpha early on the Pokemon will respect them and training will be that much easier. One thing of particular interest is that Skondor hate healing items. The use of them does not allow the wound to heal naturally, robbing them of the ability to gain that metallic scarring. They will go so far as to prefer being knocked out than to have a Potion used upon them.
Habitat: Skondor live in deep canyons. Anywhere that has a dangerous natural landscape, you are likely to find a Skondor.
Population: Skondor, while not exactly rare, tend to live in areas so far off the beaten path that they have the appearance of a rare Pokemon.
Relation with other Pokemon: Skondor are primarily a hunter. They do share a mutual respect with Spearow and can often be found fighting over land, but rarely to the death.
In the World: Skondor are uncommon in the markets. The way their claws may become stronger over time makes them hard to contain, making trade difficult. While rarely given to amateur trainers, they are prized by older trainers as they are far easier to tame than a Skarmory would be.
Lifespan: As befitting their endurance, a Skondor can live thirty years easily.
Egg: A Skondor egg is made of the same metallic material that their scars are formed from. As such their eggs are extremely tough. They tend to measure about 2' tall and 1'7" across, weighing in at about 18 pounds.
Breeding: Skondor tend to not breed until they have matured, usually around Level 20 or evolution. In breeding, it is much easier to get the to breed with other vicious Pokemon as they not only get the benefit of breeding but also the benefit of a few more scars.
