Name : Peter Jones AKA: Malachite Age : 17 Height : 5'7'' Weight : 182 lbs Level 1 Ace Trainer The Virtual World Malachite took the steps one at a time, watching as the lights shut off with a soft click behind him, the symbolism quite clear. There was no turning back, no second chances. This was the battle that would decide who was Champion and who was simply just another trainer. Each step is punctuated by a flashback. His mother kissing him goodbye, crying as Malachite (then Peter) left his childhood home for the last time, biking towards Professor Rowan's lab. Getting in line with two other potential Trainers. Filling out his registration forms, choosing "Malachite" as his Trainer name. Gemstones were all the rage now, were they not? Watching as the other two got the first pick of the Pokemon, leaving him only a small, tired Turtwig. His first battle with that Turtwig against a Bidoof. The panic he felt when his Pokemon fell unconscious and the Bidoof rushed him instead. Waking up days later in the hospital, a long scar on his arm. Another step, another flood of memories. The first Gym Battle against Roark in his mine. Malachite's panic as Berk, the Turtwig, was nearly knocked unconscious by the man's vicious Cranidos. The thrill as they won that battle, gaining their first badge. Malachite and Berk getting ice cream afterwards and the despairing face of the Turtwig as it dropped its cone. Step. Capturing their first companion, its identity confused and unsure. Another badge. Two more companions. Badge. Badge. Badge. Defeating the other two Trainers that had received their starters from Rowan. His panic when Team Galactic stole Burk. His relief when he took his Pokemon back and his elation when he finally stopped the group at Spear Pillar. Another three badges. Step. The battles against the first of the Elite Four where he had nearly lost. Pushing through the second and the third, not daring to use Burk until he had to. The fourth, barely getting through. Step. And now he was here, climbing the Champion's steps, only Burk remaining. It would end as it began; he, and Burk, battling all those that would stand in their path. Step. The door opened. And then it was all gone. |
The Real World Peter Jones grew up on Mars. Saying his childhood home was in the slums would be like calling the planet red. They were broke, not even able to afford a Pokemon for Peter. His father had been long dead, at least according to his mother. Peter is fairly sure he just left them. After all, nobody else had stuck around. His mother was always "between jobs." When she got one, it was only a matter of days she was fired for drinking. And then she'd drink, and she'd get violent, and only Peter would be there to take the beating. It was twelve when the men came for him. Social services, they said. They had heard reports of child abuse. Peter's mother, sober for once, cried as the men took him, pleading for them to leave them. It wasn't until Peter was in the van that he saw the "R." |
